Feeling better now! [Aug. 6th, 2006|04:18 pm]

Well. Saw something interesting today on ff.net.

The "Doomed" C2 is gone. And when I checked the profile for the manager of the erstwhile C2, I found an abject apology, along with a statement that her sister had been abusing her account -deleting favorites, leaving nasty reviews and being an all around bad person.

Well, I like to take people at face value. As long as they're not trying to tell me that they need my help to access a Nigerian fortune.

So I've written to this person, suggested that younger siblings exist for only one purpose (revenge) and also asking if her apology could be linked over here, since I snarked about it so much here.
She hasn't responded.

Feeling considerably less ruffled today, though. Enough so that I could write a somewhat goofy addition to my series which is on Teaspoon and ff.net.

OK. Time to test the waters.

I'm feeling surprisingly fragile at the moment because THREE of my stories made a "bad fiction" C2 on ff.net.

I can console myself with the thought that the C2 manager also dissed a few stories by some of my favorite authors. Still...it stings.

It shouldn't, I know. I've been a writer for 20 years! Primarily non-fiction (unless you count commercials...heh heh heh). Perhaps the problem is that the criticism was NOT constructive in any way. And it's thrown me completely off for continuing a series I've already started.

So...anyway! Here are the links. Did I go so horribly wrong?

Dead Woman Walking

The Storm

Memories and Tears  Please note this one refers to other stories which I haven't linked here thus far.

Thanks in advance!

So this morning I was poking around for articles and such with good writing advice, but I haven't found anything worth linking yet. I'll keep looking, though. I'm sure there are plenty of great sites out there for such things, I just haven't had time to find them yet. If anyone has any suggestions, too, please don't hesitate to say so!

I also just wanted to let everyone know that we're not just going to sit stagnant! I'm currently working on the third chapter of a regen fic I started back before Doomsday and once I have the pieces of the chapter cobbled together in some semblance of order, I'm going to post under a flocked post and ask you all to have at it. Regen fics can be such tricky things and I'd like it to be as good as I can make it before I post out in the general public, so to speak.

And of course, anyone can post any time. No need to wait on me, although if I get to be the sacrificial guinea pig, that's alright too. ;) Of course now I have an image of a guinea pig strapped spread eagle on a rock...

Welcome! [Jul. 31st, 2006|08:03 pm]
Doctor Who Concrit

Just wanted to throw up a first post welcoming everybody to our new section of the playground! And also to say thank you for joining us. We hope to have a lot of fun here and honestly, there's no intended pretension in this community. We're not 'sooper spechial' or anything. Honestly. And by no means are we implying that people don't give good concrit in any random setting. aibhinn and I just wanted to have one place where it's absolutely okay with no worries about writers freaking out or readers getting persecuted. Which I think we said in the info page, but I just wanted to reiterate for good measure.

So, again, welcome! And please, as we're getting started, don't hesitate to offer suggestions for making this community a great place to hang out, enjoy fanfic and work on our writing skills.
